Gato Class Submarine

USS WAHOO (SS-288) was probably the most famous American submarine of World War II. She was the first submarine to sink an entire Japanese convoy single-handedly. Her third patrol marked the turning point of the Pacific war. Her example boosted US morale and future sinkings.

Fate: WAHOO was lost in action during her seventh patrol. Probably in the sea of Japan, late in 1943.
